Joseph J. Welter
Joseph J. Welter is an AV rated lawyer and a partner in the firm's Buffalo, New York office. With 20 years of legal experience his trial practice includes the representation of local, national and international carriers and self-insured companies predominantly in defense of toxic tort and product liability lawsuits.
In the toxic tort area, Mr. Welter has litigated 500-plus asbestos cases and serves as lead trial counsel for several high-profile companies who manufactured and/or installed asbestos-containing materials, including insulation, joint compound, gasket materials, pumps and brake products. Mr. Welter also is co-editor of the firm's Asbestos CaseWatch, a monthly national review of recent asbestos decisions and developments. In the product liability area, Mr. Welter represents a variety of different product manufacturers in complex catastrophic injury, severe burn and death cases. He also has written on and advises product manufacturers regarding the 2008 Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act.
Mr. Welter has been named to Business First's Who's Who in Law, New York Super Lawyers and Super Lawyers, Corporate Counsel Edition.
Outside of his legal practice, Mr. Welter serves as President on the Board of Directors for the National Kidney Foundation of WNY, a voluntary health organization that seeks to prevent kidney and other organ diseases.
