Michael McQuaide is a proven trial lawyer whose practice focuses on the defense of lawsuits involving catastrophic bodily injuries or death. He has extensive experience defending self-insured companies and third-party defendants in multimillion-dollar cases involving automobile and truck accidents, premises liability, surgical bodily injury, and wrongful death. With previous experience as both an in-house trial attorney at a major insurer and as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami, Mike brings to each matter the strength of his deep and diverse trial experience honed through trying a broad range of complex cases to verdict.

As a member of our Rapid Response Trucking Team, Mike investigates and defends large loss matters from inception to trial. He utilizes his experience as a prosecutor and in-house counsel to help companies and carriers quickly analyze liability and determine the extent of their exposure. This helps clients achieve the ultimate goal of determining whether the particular claim is appropriate for early resolution or defense posture.

Mike also devotes a significant portion of his practice to investigating and litigating insurance fraud claims. He has achieved successful results as lead counsel in numerous fraud matters, through which he gained extensive experience working with Special Investigations Unit (SIU) units of insurance carriers and the Florida Department of Financial Services’ Division of Insurance Fraud.

Before entering private practice, Mike was a trial attorney with Allstate Insurance Company, where he served as lead counsel on numerous civil jury trials to verdict. In 2011, he earned the Allstate Florida Trial Master award based upon the number of cases tried and the results he obtained. While in this role, he handled personal injury and special project cases across seven Florida counties. Additionally, he was responsible for litigating and investigating claims of insurance fraud, as well as drafting coverage opinions and legal evaluations.

Mike began his career with a dedication to litigation and trial advocacy. He spent several years with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, where he tried dozens of criminal cases to verdict. He earned a promotion to the Insurance Fraud Division of the Organized Crime Unit, where he focused on the prosecution of complex cases and worked closely with both state and federal law enforcement agencies.
