Legal Assistant

Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with a national and international practice, seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to join its team as a Legal Assistant in its Greensboro office.

Job Description:
  • The ability to type approximately 65 – 75 words per minute.
  • Familiarity with electronic filing in Federal and State Court.
  • Types general correspondence, memoranda and complex legal documents according to the requirements set by each practice group.
  • Transcribes dictation tapes (letters, memos of law, motions and briefs).
  • Proofreads documents and checks for appropriate formatting, spelling and grammar.
  • Prepares check requests for processing with appropriate backup and timely submission to accounting for payment.
  • Types and coordinates expense reports.
  • Enters and edits attorney’s time into the timekeeping system within deadlines as required.
  • Maintains attorney(s’) appointment calendar.
  • Coordinates all client related travel.
  • Maintains files in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Prepares and updates attorney case lists.
  • Receive, open, prioritize and distribute incoming mail.
  • Prepare materials for distribution via U.S. mail, fax, courier, messenger, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client information in accordance with the firm policies.
  • Interacts professionally with clients, attorneys, paralegals, secretaries, all other staff and other representatives outside of the firm.
  • Ability to handle pressure, interruptions and multiple projects with frequently changing priorities and deadlines.
Requirements/Skills:
  • 5 or more years of experience in Insurance Defense Litigation including but not limited to: Environmental claims; Construction Defects; and Property Coverage.
  • Exceptional organization skills.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Excellent typing skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Team work oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ideal candidate should be motivated with the goal of becoming a long term asset within the organization.
