Peter J. Biging Quoted in "Duty to Advise," Risk and Insurance May 1, 2014
Peter J. Biging, a partner in Goldberg Segalla’s Professional Liability Practice Group, was quoted in a Risk and Insurance article examining the increasing number of cases determining if insurance brokers should be held liable for their insurance purchase recommendations.
Focusing on the Florida case of Tiara Condominium Association Inc. vs. Marsh USA Inc., Peter commented that the concept of when an insurance broker has a duty to advise used to be “a much greater mountain to climb.”
“I think these types of decisions are indicators of the judicial system increasingly identifying agents and brokers as experts providing highly specialized advice, instead of just being order-takers,” he said.
Peter focuses his practice on professional liability work, including the defense of insurance agents and brokers against errors and omissions claims.
