Frederick J. Pomerantz Joins Goldberg Segalla, Strengthens Insurance Regulatory Team July 8, 2014
Goldberg Segalla is pleased to announce Frederick J. Pomerantz has joined the law firm’s Global Insurance Services Practice Group as a partner in its New York office, bringing more than 30 years of transactional and regulatory experience to the team that counsels and defends leading insurers and reinsurers across the globe.
An internationally recognized authority on insurance regulation, Fred adds significant depth and strength to Goldberg Segalla’s insurance regulatory practice, which is led by immediate-past New York Superintendent of Insurance James J. Wrynn. This continually growing, transatlantic team offers the insurance and reinsurance industry a unique blend of international experience and an inside perspective critical for navigating its highly nuanced regulatory environment. The firm’s groundbreaking legal and regulatory work in the United States and Europe helped earn Goldberg Segalla the Law Firm of the Year honor at the 2014 Reactions London Market Awards last month.
For decades, insurance companies throughout the world have relied upon Fred as an advocate, client relationship manager, and trusted advisor to handle their corporate and commercial needs. He is a former Northeast Region Director of the Federation of Regulatory Counsel (FORC), a peer-review membership organization of only 150 insurance regulatory attorneys worldwide, and is a member of several of its committees, including the Admissions Committee and the By-laws Review Committee. Fred has also held prominent leadership positions with the Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Runoff Companies and the New York State Bar Association.
A frequent author on insurance regulation and other topics, Fred has published articles in major insurance trade journals in the United States, Argentina, Japan, and the United Kingdom. He has organized seminars and webinars on a variety of topics, including e-commerce, Superstorm Sandy, and federal insurance issues including the Nonadmitted and Reinsurance Reform Act, the role of the Federal Insurance Office in state and international insurance regulatory affairs, and the role of climate change on the insurance industry worldwide. Fred has been a guest speaker and panelist at meetings of the Federation of Regulatory Counsel, the Surplus Lines Law Group, and the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals, and has lectured to clients around the world.
