Goldberg Segalla added special counsel Joyce G. Bigelow and special counsel Joshua S. Stern to the firm’s General Liability and Business and Commercial Practice Groups in Garden City.

Bigelow is an accomplished litigator with over 25 years of experience defending a wide variety of high-exposure insurance-related matters in New York State and federal courts, including general liability, premises liability, labor law, and medical and dental malpractice. She has also managed construction, municipal liability, veterinary malpractice, and products and pharmaceutical liability litigation. Her clients have included elevator companies, security companies, property owners, and various medical professionals.

Bigelow received her J.D. from the University of Bridgeport School of Law. During her time there she was an academic invitee to the Connecticut Probate Law Journal, where she became lead articles editor. She earned her B.A. at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Prior to entering private practice, Bigelow was a judicial intern for a New York City Housing Court judge and a Connecticut Superior Court Family Law judge.

Stern focuses the majority of his practice on defending commercial or fire casualty policyholders. He also defends uninsured businesses and auto policyholders, and both defends and prosecutes coverage claims. His experience includes serving as lead trial counsel multifarious civil actions, including premises liability, labor law, toxic torts, product liability, international torts, and declaratory judgment actions for insurance coverage and commercial litigation.

Stern earned his bachelor’s at Baruch College and his J.D. at Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where he was a legal volunteer in the school’s Pro Bono Project, serving residents of New Orleans, as well as associate editor-in-chief of the Moot Court Honor Society. The Pro Bono Project recognized him with its Service and Honor Award. While pursuing his degree, Stern served as a legal intern with the Hon. Michele Woodard in the Nassau County Supreme Court.
