Goldberg Segalla LLP is pleased to announce that John J. Jablonski, chair of our E-Discovery Practice Group, has received the prestigious Alfred W. Cortese, Jr. Award from Lawyers for Civil Justice. It is given annually to an LCJ member in recognition of contributions to the promotion of excellence and fairness in the U.S. civil justice system, and in honor of outstanding service.
John received the award in recognition for his expertise in electronic discovery, presentations to the Civil Rules Advisory Committee and written contributions seeking meaningful changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure related to the preservation and disclosure of electronically stored information. He holds leadership roles in a number of national organizations in this area, including the Chair of the Defense Research Institute’s E-Discovery Committee. John is a frequent presenter and author on electronic discovery, electronic evidence investigation and preservation, best practices for corporate legal hold guidelines, implementation of legal holds, data breach response, data security, and data privacy.
The Alfred W. Cortese, Jr. Award was established by LCJ to honor retired LCJ Counsel Alfred W. Cortese, Jr., whose “tenacious pursuit of balance and fairness in the civil justice system” had a lasting effect on the way justice is administered in the U.S.
The award was presented at LCJ’s 2013 Membership Meeting on May 6 in Washington, D.C. Guest speakers at the meeting, held at Washington D.C.’s St. Regis Hotel, included prominent judges, attorneys general, and members of Congress.
