"Premises Liability Involving Snow & Ice Conditions in the NY Tri-State Area," Lawline May 11, 2017

Ellen H. Greiper, Marvin N. Romero, and Stefan A. Borovina of the Goldberg Segalla General Liability Practice Group presented a video course titled “Premises Liability Involving Snow & Ice Conditions in the NY Tri-State Area” for Lawline, an online resource for Continuing Legal Education.

Residents in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut are familiar with dangerous winter weather conditions — and many tri-state property owners are familiar with the increase in slip and fall accidents and lawsuits that coincides with the season. In their course, Ellen, Marvin, and Stefan detail the framework of liability for snow or ice litigation as well as common issues property owners and their attorneys encounter, and explain how a “Storm in Progress Defense” could absolve a property owner of liability.

As instructors, Ellen, Marvin, and Stefan draw on their extensive experiences litigating and advising clients on liability matters. A member of the Construction Specifications Institute and the Defense Research Institute’s Construction Defect Committee, Ellen has litigated many high-exposure premises liability cases. In 2015, Ellen and Marvin co-authored "Stormy Weather: An Analysis of Snow and Ice Defenses," and in 2016 Ellen, Marvin, and Stefan co-authored "Snow and Ice Liability: A Property Owner's Guide" (both appeared in New York Law Journal).

Property owners or attorneys interested in the subject can find the 61-minute course on Lawline.
