Best Practices Paralegal

Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with a national and international practice, seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to join its team as a Best Practices Paralegal in its Albany office.

  • Conduct the review/audit of invoices from outside law firms for compliance with the guidelines and for reasonable and appropriate billing practices consistent with industry standards as established by the ABA.
  • Ensure that law firm practices comply with Company litigation management guidelines.
  • Assist other departments with corrective measures in their dealings with the customer and or law firms, regarding billing issues.
  • Review appeals of invoice deductions from outside law firms.
  • Coordinate payment and approval of invoices from outside law firms.
  • Direct and oversee the audit examination of law firm's legal files, accounting, financial/billing records, etc., to ensure compliance with guidelines as assigned.
  • Maintain a database, which reports audit compliance results
  • Update and maintain standard operating procedures for litigation management program pertaining to position functions.
  • Analyzing audit data and preparation of reports
  • Assistance with staff training and calibration
  • Assistance with electronic billing systems
  • Maintain strict ethical, legal adherence and confidentiality at all times

  • Experience in auditing, claims management, and litigation management is helpful
  • Experience as a litigation paralegal helpful
  • Experience billing time helpful
  • Knowledge of claim processes and systems
  • Knowledge of legal processes
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, analytical and communication skills
  • Strong problem solving abilities
  • Motivated, detail-oriented team player with positive attitude
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Excel experience is required
