Junior Network Administrator

Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with a national and international practice seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to join their team as a Junior Network Administrator in its Buffalo office.

Job Description

The Junior Network Administrator role will work with Senior Engineers to manage and maintain a multi-office network/server infrastructure. Responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, & maintenance of systems hardware & software & related network infrastructure; participates in technical research & development to enable continuing innovation w/in the network infrastructure.  Maintain and monitor Windows Server 2012 R2 Server infrastructure, NetApp SAN, Dell Compellant SAN, VMWare Cluster environment, Exchange 2016, SCCM and AppSense.  Manage and monitor data replication and backups using DATTO technologies. Manage e-mail archiving solution, network security, web and spam filtering, Litigation software and anti-virus solutions.  Support remote access capabilities such as MaaS360, iPhone/iPads, Citrix XenApp and Outlook Web Access.

Manage and maintain all network and desktop software, hardware and network infrastructure including but not limited to, the below systems. 

  • Must be familiar with network protocols including TCP/IP.
  • Assist Senior Engineers with managing and upgrading network servers, Exchange 2016 server cluster.  Must be familiar with server technologies including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WINS and IIS.
  • Assist Senior Engineers with supporting NetApp SAN, Compellant SAN storage, and VMWare server environments.
  • Support and manage Windows 7/10 Desktop environment, Windows Server 2012, and SCCM 2016
  • Monthly desktop patching
  • Active Directory to include GPOs, DHCP and DNS.
  • Assist Senior Engineers with managing Mimecast spam filtering solution and archive email solution as well as web filtering appliances. 
  • Assist Senior Engineers with managing and maintaining servers supporting mission-critical business and legal/litigation apps including MS Office 2010/2016, MS Exchange 2016 and Outlook Web Access, OpenText E-DOCS/iManage DMS,
  • Participate in on-call rotation for network server/infrastructure support.
  • Shared responsibility for daily monitoring, maintenance, and testing of data backups in support of business continuity, disaster recovery and data restoration capabilities.
  • Coordinate with hardware service vendors and outside consultants when equipment requires servicing; place service calls, maintain service history logs, ensure that parts are ordered and installed, and follow-up with appropriate staff to be sure the problem was solved.
  • Report, maintain and review logs to monitor security threats to and health of network servers.
  • Assist Senior Engineers with determining the cause of server malfunctions involving both hardware and operating system or application and resolve as needed to restore system functionality.
  • Keep computer rooms in a clean, orderly, neat and professional manner.
  • Support help desk in their daily duties.
  • Train help desk in the use of system management and advanced network management administration tools as directed and as needed in support of help desk functions.
  • Document, publish and distribute all system changes and procedures to IT staff.
  • Assist in setting up new office locations as well as moving/expanding existing locations.
  • Assist IT leadership in any other tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn new techniques and implement new procedures. 
  • Troubleshoot problems and follow through to resolution. 
  • An associate degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience utilizing A+ or MCSE skills.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in an IT department or certification in MCSE or Cisco CCNA
  • 1-year experience in Junior  Systems Administrator in a client/server environment
