Miami Jury Returns Defense Verdict in Million-Dollar Commercial Action Over Yacht Engines May 10, 2018

A Fortune 100 manufacturer won a full jury defense verdict in a complex commercial action in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

A Miami yacht owner brought a suit against our client, a leading global machinery manufacturer, claiming chronic problems with the engines in his boat, which he alleged had rendered it practically useless. Backed by aggressive counsel, he sought over $1 million in damages.

Goldberg Segalla partner Kimberly A. Cook, who serves as regional counsel for the client, crafted and delivered a defense with assistance from associate Jonathan E. Groth. The highly technical trial, which lasted over a week, ended after four hours of deliberation in a unanimous defense verdict.
