Goldberg Segalla is pleased to announce it has added associate Jessica P. Butkera to its General Liability and Toxic Torts Practice Groups in Baltimore, where her practice will primarily focus on general defense litigation, torts coverage, premises liability, and complex toxic tort matters involving exposure to lead paint and other hazardous substances. Jessica brings to the firm extensive experience litigating a broad range of liability claims, including personal injury, premises and product liability, medical malpractice, and more.
Prior to joining Goldberg Segalla, Jessica was an associate with two civil litigation firms in the Baltimore area, where she gained jury and bench trial experience throughout the State of Maryland the District of Columbia. She is rated “AV – Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell and “Superb” by AVVO, and was invited into The National Trial Lawyers: Top 40 Under 40 in 2016. Jessica has also been named a Maryland Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.
Upon graduating from the University of Maryland School of Law — where she was a National Champion at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy’s Tournament of Champions, an Articles Editor of the Maryland Law Review, an Asper Fellow for Chief Magistrate Judge Paul W. Grimm at the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, and a recipient of the Law, Litigation and Advocacy Award — Jessica clerked for the Hon. Audrey J .S. Carrion in the Circuit Court of Baltimore City, Maryland. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Baltimore Bar Foundation and the Bar Association of Baltimore City’s Communications and News Journal Committee. She is also a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Maryland Bar Association, the Bar Association of Baltimore City, and the District of Columbia Bar.
