Goldberg Segalla is pleased to announce Michael J. Gallagher has joined the firm’s Business and Commercial Practice Group in Buffalo, where he will serve as the foundational partner for its growing corporate and transactional practice. Mike joins Goldberg Segalla from Delaware North, a multibillion-dollar global food service and hospitality corporation for which he spent the past 20 years as Assistant General Counsel with sole responsibility for the transactional work relating to its Sportservice and Parks and Resorts subsidiaries.
Mike held a key role at Delaware North, where he drafted, negotiated, and executed complex contracts and operating agreements, license and franchise agreements, and asset purchase and sale agreements for clients such as sports teams, state and federal parks agencies, and private owners of resorts and other vacation properties. He also has extensive experience handling stock purchases and drafting shareholder agreements, negotiating mergers, and securing financing for large development projects.
Christopher J. Belter, Chair of Goldberg Segalla’s Business and Commercial Practice Group, said the addition of Mr. Gallagher marks a significant milestone for the firm’s growth and reinforces its strong position as a premier firm serving the business community’s full range of needs — not only in upstate New York, but across the entirety of its 19-office footprint.
“Mike is a highly talented lawyer whose in-house experience at one of the world’s largest hospitality management companies brings a perspective to Goldberg Segalla that is hard to match,” Chris said. “We expect our capabilities in the transactional sphere to continue to grow significantly in the months ahead.”
“As I contemplated a return to private practice, I knew I wanted to join a firm with not only a dedication to client service and teamwork, but a stellar reputation for legal work as well,” said Mike. “Goldberg Segalla hits the mark on every level, and I couldn’t be more excited to join this talented team.”
In another nod to its stature and capabilities, Goldberg Segalla’s Business and Commercial Practice Group in upstate New York was recently recognized by Chambers and Partners for the second consecutive year as one of the top in the region. The 2015 and 2016 editions of the prestigious Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business rank the 15-year old Goldberg Segalla among some of upstate New York’s oldest and most well-established firms.
