Jason S. Charkow
Jason is a legal strategist and patent litigator with 16 years of experience overseeing international patent prosecution, post-grant proceedings, monetization, licensing, portfolio mining, and diligence for Am Law 50 firms and publicly traded companies. Jason has built and managed large multinational legal teams, advised business executives and directors on complex legal issues, overseen international litigations, litigated U.S. patent cases through trial, managed multimillion-dollar patent licensing programs, and negotiated licenses with companies in the United States and Asia. He has handled patent cases related to telecommunications networks and equipment, set-top boxes, electronics, content delivery networks, and internet technologies. His background also includes litigation financing and entrepreneurship in the legal and technology sectors.
Jason earned his bachelor’s degree at Binghamton University Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and his J.D. at Hofstra University School of Law. After beginning his career at AM Law 50 firms, he took a position at a publicly traded company where, in addition to handling general corporate matters, he oversaw patent litigation and licensing involving an international patent portfolio of over 500 telecommunications patents and applications. He built and managed legal teams and oversaw litigations (including cases involving standard essential patents) in Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States, and was also responsible for international patent prosecution, post-grant proceedings, patent portfolio development, mining and analysis as well as overseeing regulatory investigations in China and Europe. Finally serving as General Counsel in charge of all legal affairs, Jason helped grow and transition the company from a small technology/licensing business to a diverse holding company with 800 employees in 57 locations worldwide.
Before joining Goldberg Segalla, Jason spent a year in the litigation financing industry working with claimants, law firms, investors, and banks.
Stephanie R. Mandir
Stephanie began her legal career at a patent litigation boutique in the Arlington, VA, and Washington, D.C. area. She concentrates her practice at Goldberg Segalla on patent litigation, including post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board. She also has experience preparing opinions relating to infringement, validity, and freedom-to-operate. Stephanie’s practice further includes preparing and prosecuting U.S. patent applications across a broad range of technical areas, including the electrical, mechanical, biomedical, and computer arts.
Stephanie earned her bachelor’s degree at Northwestern University and went on to earn her J.D. at Tulane University Law School. During law school, she gained additional experience in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office with a Patent Experience Externship. She is a member of the Intellectual Property Owners Association’s Women in IP Committee.
