Heather A. McLeod is an accomplished litigator with nearly 30 years of experience representing insurance carriers, self-insured employers, and third-party administrators in workers’ compensation matters throughout Florida. She manages all aspects of litigation for the defense of workers’ compensation claims, including depositions, hearings, mediation, and trials. With a thorough knowledge of workers’ compensation law, case decisions, administrative rules, and rules of procedure, Heather is adept at presenting persuasive arguments and trial advocacy before the court. In addition, Heather regularly consults with clients to identify their workers’ compensation insurance needs, discusses methods and practices to minimize or avoid claims, and prepares or reviews employee handbook language. She apprises potential risks and costs associated with various courses of action and identifies the potential for additional labor and employment claims.
Before joining private practice, Heather was in-house counsel for Liberty Mutual Insurance, The Zenith Insurance, and CNA, analyzing issues, developing strategies and arguments, and managing preparation and litigation of workers’ compensation cases. She is a certified Circuit Court Mediator.
