James M. Paulino II, CIPP-U.S., is a leader in Goldberg Segalla’s Cybersecurity and Data Privacy practice, where he counsels clients regarding cybersecurity and data issues, including investigating and responding to potential data incidents. Jimmy also represents businesses and individuals in complex commercial matters including commercial contract disputes, land use agreements, labor and employment issues, professional liability issues, non-profit governance and consumer contracts, and serves as national counsel coordinating litigation and arbitrations for larger businesses.

Jimmy has helped clients navigate a range of privacy and security matters regarding unauthorized access to computer systems, data compromise and theft, financial crimes, malware and ransomware attacks, and insider threats. He contributes to Goldberg Segalla’s Data Privacy and Security blog and regularly authors articles and is quoted in trade and legal media on emerging issues in cybersecurity and data privacy law.
Jimmy is a leader in the firm’s E-Discovery practice, helping manage the entire electronic discovery process from litigation holds, data collection and processing, review and production, along with preparing confidentiality agreements and protective orders.
Jimmy has represented educational institutions in a variety of matters, including First Amendment claims, athletic association matters, application of the Americans with Disabilities Act, preparing and implementing disciplinary policies, and student accommodations pursuant to federal and state law. He draws on his diverse legal experience encompassing commercial litigation, civil rights law, employment law, zoning and construction, and liability matters, as well as insight gained from years served on the board of directors at a private K-12 school in Penfield, New York.
Jimmy has significant appellate advocacy experience, including successfully arguing appeals for clients before the Third and Fourth Departments of the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division. Representative appellate matters include:
