In "Opioids — Reducing Exposure in State Workers' Compensation Claims," Deb discusses the challenges facing defense counsel and insurance companies in navigating today's opioid epidemic, and offers insight into the best practices for insurance carriers to assess medical exposure relating to opioid medications.

"Defense counsel must analyze whether prescribed opioids provide any objective functional improvement for a claimant," Deb writes. "When insurance companies challenge a claimant’s opioid medication regime, defense counsel faces a difficult task to force compliance with national standards."
