Goldberg Segalla Welcomes Derek B. Barba and Tyler A. Acham October 1, 2018

Goldberg Segalla added partner Derek B. Barba and associate Tyler A. Acham to two of the law firm’s Florida offices.

Derek joins the firm’s General Liability Practice Group in Miami. He focuses his practice on all matters relating to general liability litigation, including cases involving claims of personal injury from automobile accidents, slip and falls, negligent security, wrongful death, medical malpractice, nursing home and assisted living facility malpractice, insurance coverage issues, third party administration malpractice, fraud and special investigation claims, and negligent hiring and retention. He represents both individuals and corporations, and as a fluent Spanish speaker, his background includes numerous cases representing Spanish-speaking clients. He is a highly experienced trial attorney, and has tried over 40 jury trials across South and Central Florida. A Miami native, Derek earned a dual bachelor’s in English literature and international and comparative studies from the University of Miami before going on to pursue his juris doctor at St. Thomas University School of Law.

Tyler joins the firm’s Retail and Hospitality and General Liability Practice Groups in West Palm Beach. He focuses his practice on representing and defending a wide range of national and international retailers, hospitality companies, food and beverage companies, restaurants and food service franchises, and other businesses throughout Florida. Tyler not only draws on experience as a licensed Property and Casualty, Life, and Variable Annuities insurance agent, but also as a holder of the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) professional designation, which is the premier professional designation in the property-casualty insurance and risk management industry. In addition, he possesses the Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) designation. Prior to earning his juris doctor from Florida International University College of Law, Tyler received his bachelor’s in criminal justice from the University of Central Florida, graduating on the president’s honor roll as well as the dean’s list.
