Inside the Legal and Regulatory Implications of Vehicle Telematics May 27, 2015

The rising use of vehicle driving data gathered by telematics sensors attached to them opens up new avenues of opportunity for insurers, manufacturers, and others connected to the automotive industry. But along with the explosion of available data come serious questions regarding the ownership of that data, along with privacy concerns.
In the maiden issue of Mealey’s Data Privacy Law Report, Goldberg Segalla’s Frederick J. Pomerantz and Aaron J. Aisen examine the relatively new — and still very fluid — statutory and regulatory environment surrounding the issue of data privacy and ownership, with a focus on how both state and federal laws and regulations impact vehicle telematics.
