Triangle Business Journal Notes Goldberg Segalla's Growth in Raleigh, North Carolina July 13, 2018

Triangle Business Journal, the leading outlet for business news in North Carolina’s Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area, gave readers a glimpse into Goldberg Segalla’s growth in the region in a recent feature article.

The Triangle highlighted the opening of Goldberg Segalla’s Raleigh office in June, the firm’s second in the state after it opened its doors in Greensboro in 2016. The paper’s focus, though, was on what the Raleigh office opening portended for future growth in the state.

“This year, we determined that we were prepared to formally open a Raleigh office and expand the work that we do from our Raleigh office in such a way as it better resembles what we do on a firmwide basis,” Goldberg Segalla Managing Partner Richard J. Cohen told the Triangle. “We just formally opened that office and will now be recruiting people in all practice areas of the firm to populate.”

The Raleigh office is currently home to partners Leann A. Gerlach, Ben S. Greenberg, and Gregory S. Horner, as well as associates Michael A. Goode, Alexandra Kensinger, and Amy C. Pagani. Together, they service clients including major retail and grocery chains, industrial and consumer products manufacturers, construction companies, hospitality brands, staffing agencies, medical facilities, and governmental entities. The Triangle noted the firm’s robust Workers’ Compensation practice in Raleigh, as well as its growing Trucking practice, led in the region by Ben Greenberg.

“We recognized that the opportunity to service the wider market in the Carolinas would extend beyond simply the folks that we have in Greensboro,” Rick said of the Raleigh office opening. He added that while there are no imminent plans for a third office in North Carolina, he expects the firm will eventually open an office in Charlotte.

Goldberg Segalla’s growth in North Carolina is consistent with its growth nationwide: 2018 has already seen the opening of the 370-lawyer firm’s first two West Coast offices, in Los Angeles and Orange County. The May 2017 Law360 400 ranking of the largest U.S.-based law firms heralded Goldberg Segalla as 2016’s fastest-growing law firm without undertaking a merger. Law360 noted that the firm experienced “double-digit growth” without jumping on what it called the “consolidation bandwagon,” and it highlighted the firm’s natural-growth strategy as a key to maintaining “the collaborative culture Goldberg Segalla’s leaders have worked to hone.” The 2018 NLJ 500's estimates recognize that the firm's growth rate continues well above the national average.
