Goldberg Segalla added Elizabeth La Rue to the firm’s Defense Base Act and War Hazards Compensation Act practice group in Manhattan.

Eliza represents government contractors and their insurance carriers in matters arising under the Defense Base Act (DBA) and the War Hazards Compensation Act (WHCA). She works with clients to evaluate and defend claims involving civilian employees deployed overseas and assists in matters before the U.S. Department of Labor’s administrative and judicial tribunals. Eliza also supports clients in navigating WHCA reimbursement claims related to injuries attributed to war-risk hazards. She draws on prior experience from her tenure as an Assistant District Attorney with the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, where she prosecuted felony cases from investigation through disposition. In that role, Eliza drafted and argued legal motions, indicted cases in the Grand Jury, conducted preliminary hearings, and handled all aspects of case development.

Eliza earned her B.A. from Tulane University and her J.D. from the Tulane University Law School.
