Jonathan Schwartz,  a partner in Goldberg Segalla’s Global Insurance Services and Cyber Risk and Social Media Practice Groups, recently wrote an article for DRI The Voice outlining the trend of law firms guarding themselves against data breaches and cybersecurity crimes by obtaining the ISO 27001 certification.

“This certification reflects efforts taken to protect the firms’ records, documents, and communication systems,” writes Jonathan. “The certification is not mandatory yet, but clients are increasingly demanding that their law firms demonstrate a clear commitment to data security. Since the process involved in obtaining a cybersecurity certification is long, arduous, and expensive, now is the time to start talking about whether this is something that will benefit your firm.”

In the article, Jonathan examines the importance of the ISO 27001 certification, including the number of firms currently obtaining certification and the investment they make while doing so.
