As Chair of Goldberg Segalla’s Sports and Entertainment Practice Group, Joseph M. Hanna has led the development of the practice to a group of nearly 20 lawyers with a track record of defending major media and entertainment clients. In recognition of his leadership of the group and its litigation successes, Joe was recently named one of Law360’s Rising Stars for 2014.
In the Law360 profile recognizing his selection in the Media and Entertainment category, Joe discusses the practice group’s remarkable growth over the last nine years. In addition, he describes his and the group’s innovative approach to representing soft drink giants, professional athletes, and sports franchises in complex, multimillion-dollar matters.
“We are able to get great results at a very reasonable price for clients and get the job done without dragging things out unnecessarily,” Joe says.
The article also includes Joe’s advice to younger attorneys on how to build relationships with clients and how to prove themselves to more senior partners.
“It’s important to get your name out there and network with others while being yourself,” Joe says. “That’s something that many attorneys sometimes tend to forget. Clients want to deal with you as a person. That’s how to keep and grow the relationship. Clients have to feel comfortable with you, and it’s transparent if you’re acting like somebody you’re not.”
Joe was one of only five attorneys recognized on Law360’s list of top media and entertainment lawyers under age 40, and one of just over 160 lawyers in the entire country to receive a Rising Star award this year.
