Uninsured Motorist and Underinsured Motorist Coverage Compendium: New Jersey Chapter, DRI

2016

Julie P. Apter, a partner in Goldberg Segalla’s General Liability practice, authored the New Jersey chapter of the Uninsured Motorist and Underinsured Motorist Coverage Compendium, reflecting her extensive experience in the defense of UM/UIM claims.

The compendium — published by DRI, one of the leading national organizations of defense attorneys and in-house counsel — surveys the law of each state and the District of Columbia to provide insurance carriers and insurance defense counsel with an essential reference to the complex issues that arise in this area of insurance law.

In her chapter, Julie provides practical, New Jersey-specific answers to questions such as:

  • Is UM/UIM coverage mandatory or discretionary?
  • Must UM/UIM coverage match liability limits?
  • What coverage defenses can the insurer assert?
  • Can offsets against the UM, UIM, UMPD, UEO or other uninsured coverage limits be taken?
  • And much more.
