Caroline J. Berdzik, chair of Goldberg Segalla’s Health Care Practice Group and co-chair of its Labor and Employment Practice Group, was interviewed by Shopping Centers Today for an article discussing the uptick in disability access legal actions being filed against shopping centers under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

“There is a cottage industry of plaintiffs’ law firms that have seen this business model work out in other states and have replicated it on the East Coast,” Caroline told the magazine. “It is easy for lawyers to find these cases, because the ADA guidelines for compliance are extremely difficult to follow for most retailers.”

Caroline has defended numerous shopping center owners in cases alleging ADA noncompliance.
