Cheryl A. Possenti, a partner in Goldberg Segalla’s Product Liability Practice Group, has been named a 2014 Client Choice Awards winner. Cheryl is the only lawyer in New York State — and one of just five in the United States and nine in the world — to be recognized in the product liability category.

The Client Choice Awards were established in 2005 to recognize law firms and partners around the world who stand apart for the excellent client service they provide. Jointly presented by the International Law Office (ILO) and Lexology, the awards are unique in only accepting nominations from corporate counsel. Winners are selected based on thousands of individual assessments received worldwide.

Cheryl is an AV-rated trial attorney with more than 30 years of experience defending manufacturers in complex, high-exposure product liability actions. She also counsels and represents product manufacturers in all aspects of product recalls, regulatory investigation and reporting, and communications with regulatory agencies including the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A founding partner of Goldberg Segalla, she serves as counsel to two of the world’s foremost makers of toys and children’s products, and is national coordinating counsel for certain recalled products.

Cheryl frequently writes and speaks on product liability issues, and has held leadership roles with organizations such as the Defense Research Institute and the Society of Product Licensors Committed to Excellence (SPLiCE). She has received a number of industry honors, including the selection by her peers for American Lawyer Media and Martindale-Hubbell’s Women Leaders in the Law, Upstate New York Super Lawyers, and Business First’s Who’s Who in Law.

This year’s Client Choice Awards recognized just 251 individuals in North America across 46 states and four provinces.
