The Buffalo Niagara Partnership has chosen Christina G. Holdsworth, a partner in Goldberg Segalla’s Civil Litigation and Trial practice group, as a finalist for the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award® for 2023. The award honors emerging leaders who demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their profession, and serve as role models for young women personally and professionally.

“It’s humbling to be included in the ranks of the accomplished, inspiring women who paved the way for the rest of us,” Christina said in the interview with Buffalo Niagara Partnership about being chosen as a finalist. “It motivates me to carry the torch on to the next generation of professional women.”

Already motivating the next generation of lawyers, Christina is an active volunteer with the UB School of Law’s Alumni Mentor program, where she is paired with female first-year law students to help prepare them for a career in the legal profession. As part of the American Bar Association’s Judicial Intern Opportunity Program, she helps screen judicial candidates looking for jobs after they graduate from law school. The program was established as an effort to provide opportunities to minority students who are traditionally underrepresented in the profession, including students with disabilities, economically disadvantaged, LGBT, and women. Within Goldberg Segalla, Christina is a member of the firm’s Diversity Task Force, which implements programs supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion, and gives diversity a voice in the firm’s decision-making at the highest level.

In addition to being a skilled litigator, Christina is an emerging authority within general liability law, and regularly authors articles on legal news and trends concerning her practice, such as “NY Adult Survivors Act Look-Back: What Organizations Must Know,” in the legal industry publication, Law360. Christina has been selected by The Best Lawyers in America for its “Ones to Watch” list for 2021, 2022 and 2023, a recognition of outstanding professional excellence given to attorneys who are earlier in their careers.

The Buffalo Niagara Partnership will honor Christina and 19 other women for their contribution to the advancement of women within the Buffalo Niagara region at a luncheon on March 29, 2023.
