Goldberg Segalla Achieves Mansfield Certification
Goldberg Segalla is pleased to announce the firm has achieved Mansfield Certification. This certification demonstrates the firm’s ongoing commitment to championing historically underrepresented lawyers – including women, underrepresented racial and ethnic lawyers, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities.
Mansfield provides a comprehensive, systemic, and structural approach to ensuring that diverse talent at participating law firms have a fair and equitable opportunity at every stage in their professional development – from recruitment, client pitches and recognitions, through promotions and leadership roles. To achieve Mansfield, Goldberg Segalla assessed our systems through a behavioral science and data-driven methodology that was designed by Diversity Lab in collaboration with talent experts, data scientists, and lawyers to help increase diversity in law firms.
“Goldberg Segalla is incredibly proud to have achieved Mansfield Certification, as we have always believed a culture of inclusion and promoting diversity makes our firm stronger,” said Joseph M. Hanna, Goldberg Segalla management committee member, Hiring Partner, and chair of the firm’s Diversity Task Force, which conceives and implements diversity-focused programs and gives diversity a voice in decision-making at the highest level of the firm. “Our commitment to an equitable and transparent hiring and promotion process is engrained in our best practices. We recognize that each person deserves the same opportunity to succeed, and we strive to make that happen for our team members every day.”
Goldberg Segalla remains deeply committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and in the communities we serve across the country. To pair with our Diversity Task Force, Goldberg Segalla demonstrates a distinct focus on the advancement of women in the firm. Our Women’s Initiative is designed to raise the visibility of women attorneys and provide support to further their personal and professional growth. Goldberg Segalla is also proud to continue our commitment to diversify leadership with 55-percent of the firm’s 2024 elevations going to women and 23-percent comprising racially diverse attorneys. The firm earned a Tipping the Scales Recognition from the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance – a distinction granted to firms with at least 50-percent women in their new partner classes.
Goldberg Segalla is consistently recognized as a trailblazer for our various practical efforts to increase firm diversity through developing strategies to recruit and retain people from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds. Our innovative efforts have resulted in numerous diversity-related recognitions, including: Inclusion Blueprint Champion – Litigation, Diversity Labs; Chambers USA Outstanding Contribution to Furthering the Advancement of Diversity in the Legal Profession and Inclusion Awards Shortlist; Commitment to Diversity Award – Minority Corporate Counsel Association Firm Affiliate Network; Leaders in Diversity – Baltimore Business Journal; Diversity Trailblazer Award – New York State Bar Association; Legal Service Award – National Federation for Just Communities of Western New York; Rick Palmore Award – Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.
