Goldberg Segalla Expands Miami Presence with the Addition of Attorney Frank Ramos
Goldberg Segalla is pleased to announce the expansion of the firm’s Miami office with the addition of prominent attorney, author, presenter and mentor, Frank Ramos. Frank brings more than 26 years of experience to his role as a partner in the firm’s Retail and Hospitality and Product Liability practice groups. A seasoned litigator, he has taken numerous trials and arbitrations to verdict or award.
Frank uses his extensive litigation experience to provide counsel, defense, and strategic guidance to retailers, developers, restaurants, fitness chains, hotels, resorts and other hospitality businesses. His representation has included negligent security, slip/trip and falls, catastrophic personal injury, employment and construction claims, as well as a variety of commercial disputes ranging from intellectual property and breach of contract to bad faith, franchise agreements, and landlord-tenant issues.
“Adding Frank to the Miami office is part of our ongoing commitment to expanding the firm’s statewide Florida presence,” said Rodney J. Janis, Goldberg Segalla’s Retail and Hospitality practice co-chair. “We’ve been looking to deepen our retail bench in the Miami area in response to growing client needs, and Frank is an excellent partner in helping us achieve that goal.”
Highly regarded by his peers in the legal community, Frank was named Miami’s Product Liability Lawyer of the Year by The Best Lawyers in America for both 2020 and 2023. In his product liability practice, Frank has advocated for clients in cases alleging toxic exposure and personal injury for manufacturers and distributors in the pharmaceutical, medical, construction, asbestos and silica, machinery, household product, safety equipment, recreational vehicle, and automotive industries.
“The addition of Frank Ramos to the firm signifies an important expansion of our product liability defense team,” said Joseph J. Welter, co-chair of Goldberg Segalla’s Product Liability practice. “With his experience defending manufacturers and distributors in a broad range of industries, we’ve enhanced our ability to serve clients across the state.”
Frank is a prominent thought leader and advocate for the legal and insurance defense industries, having written more than 500 articles and given over 400 presentations to lawyers and claims professionals on a variety of topics including claims handling, pretrial and trial skills, leadership, litigation management, mentoring, diversity, communication skills, management, and the future of the practice, to name a few. He has authored 20 books on best practices and innovations in the practice of law published by such esteemed organizations as the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC), the Defense Research Institute (DRI), and the American Bar Association (ABA).
“Frank is well-known and highly regarded throughout the legal industry as an attorney of exceptional integrity and talent,” said Joseph M. Hanna, the firm’s Retail and Hospitality practice group chair, firm management committee member, and hiring partner. “He builds authentic relationships with clients and colleagues, offering invaluable insights and wholeheartedly investing in their success. His collaborative approach speaks to the heart of our firm culture, and we’re delighted to welcome him to the team.”
“I joined Goldberg Segalla because of how integrated and supportive every member of the team is,” Frank said. “When you hire a lawyer at the firm, you truly hire the entire firm. And if you work for the firm, every member of the firm is there to support and help you and root you on.”
Known as the “Miami Mentor,” Frank provides both training and mentorship through his writing, podcasts, how-to videos, and one-on-one conversations he has had with hundreds of young lawyers, lending an ear and offering advice on life and the practice of law.
Listening well is also key to client success, according to Frank, and he believes in always being responsive and accessible.
“Great client service begins with identifying what the client wants and needs and how they want it, and then obsessively meeting them,” Frank said. “The first thing I do is give my client my cell phone number and insist they call me any day, any time. And I mean it. Always provide concierge service.”
A thought leader on cutting edge client challenges and solutions, Frank regularly presents and writes on helping clients adopt Artificial Intelligence in a safe, effective, and legal manner, assisting them in navigating the rules and regulations pertaining to AI and, when necessary, litigating AI-related matters. He also counsels insurance industry clients on best practices for harvesting their own robust data to improve efficiencies and outcomes.
Frank’s role as a legal and insurance industry advocate has also brought him experience in premises liability, transportation, construction defect, § 1983 civil rights, eminent domain, medical malpractice, insurance and coverage matters.
