Just weeks after having been named the best place to work in Western New York, Goldberg Segalla was named to the 2013 Best Companies to Work For in New York State listing, with a rank of 19th overall among large employers in the Empire State. It is the only law firm to make the top 20.

In its 12-year history, Goldberg Segalla has grown from seven founding partners plus a small support staff to a team of more than 300, including over 170 lawyers, in its 11 offices in the United States and the United Kingdom.  In 2012, Goldberg Segalla placed in the top 25 on the small/medium company category, for businesses of 15 to 249 employees. However, in 2013, the firm moved up to the large company category, for businesses of 250 or more employees.

The high ranking in the Best Companies to Work For in New York State listing closely follows Goldberg Segalla’s being named the Best Place to Work among large employers in Western New York by Business First of Buffalo. The rankings are based on surveys of legal and administrative staff relating to aspects of workplace satisfaction such as trust in the firm and its leadership, how individual contributions and teamwork are valued, and enthusiasm for exceeding the requirements of one’s job.

Created in 2007, the annual Best Companies to Work for in New York State awards are a distinctive program that evaluates and ranks the best places of employment based on employee satisfaction and engagement, as well as workplace practices and policies. The program is a partnership of New York State Society for Human Resource Management, Best Companies Group, Journal Multimedia Corporation, and The Business Council of New York.

The firm learned of its ranking at an awards dinner at the Albany Marriott on April 30.
