Goldberg Segalla is pleased to announce attorneys Catherine Breen, Joëll Percy, and Cynthia J. Chin have joined the firm as associates in its fast-growing Workers’ Compensation Practice Group in Garden City.
With close to a decade’s experience handling workers’ compensation matters on the claimant side, Kate brings unique insights and extensive knowledge of the claims process to the firm. She earned her J.D. from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where she was the Student Bar Association Chairperson tasked with overseeing the election process. Kate also held two internships with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office.
Joëll has nearly 10 years of legal experience and has represented insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured entities in a variety of complex matters. She was previously an in-house counsel to one of the country’s largest insurers. Joëll, who speaks four languages, graduated from St. John’s University School of Law. While earning her J.D., she won a coveted Minority Fellowship from the Association of the Bar of the City of New York — one of only 40 granted citywide.
Cynthia brings considerable experience handling workers’ compensation cases to the firm. She has a background in representing plaintiffs and is now focusing her practice on defending insurance carriers. While earning her J.D. at California Western School of Law, Cynthia was a member of the Pro Bono Honors Society, which recognizes students for their pro bono and public service work. She also served as a law intern at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command Center.
