Joseph M. Hanna, Goldberg Segalla Hiring Partner and member of the firm’s management committee, was interviewed by Law.com about hiring trends nationally for insurance defense firms.

While acknowledging a tighter talent market in some regions, Joe indicates that there will be numerous new lateral hires joining the firm in early 2026.

“We have a lot of momentum going and a lot of great people on this team. There’s no slowdown for us and we’re continuing to bring on talented people,” Joe says. “We’re competitive, salary wise, with competitor law firms, but culture is what really makes a difference on our candidates.”

In many areas of Goldberg Segalla’s footprint, which is comprised of 23 offices in major metropolitan markets across the country, Joe says the firm is receiving significant interest from highly qualified candidates and has the flexibility to select the best fit for its specific needs. With strong momentum and new hires already on the horizon, the firm continues to attract top talent and expand its team across critical markets.

“For a period of time, partners with three to five years of experience in the practice groups we were looking for, they were unicorns. That’s opening up – it’s tight, but not as tight as it was four to five years ago,” Joe explains. “We’re seeing a lot more of the first and second-year resumes that we didn’t see five years ago when the first and second years were getting gobbled up. That shift is starting to happen.”
