Joseph Hanna Highlights Goldberg Segalla’s Work Environment, Transparency as Factors for Strong Hiring Numbers
Goldberg Segalla has been attracting plenty of high-quality talent in 2025, and the legal industry is taking notice. In an article published by Law.com, Hiring Partner and management committee member, Joseph M. Hanna, pointed to the firm’s collaborative office environment, transparent pay structure, and increase in work volume as reasons why he expects strong hiring numbers to continue.
Per the article, “In Year of Rapid Hiring, Goldberg Segalla May Reach 500 Lawyers by Third Quarter,” by Ryan Harroff, Joe says Goldberg Segalla has reached its largest number of attorneys ever and is continuing to grow due to needs-based hires across every office and every practice group.
Goldberg Segalla experienced substantial year-over-year hiring growth, rising from 59 new attorneys joining the firm in the first eight months last year, to 92 in the same period this year, a 56% increase.
In particular, the lateral hiring market has been especially competitive in 2025, with Joe saying Goldberg Segalla stands out to lateral candidates and first-year attorneys because of its work environment and clear communication.
“We have a very strong reputation in the industry of being a great place to work in terms of our compensation system,” Joe says. “It’s very transparent. There’s no voodoo economics. Everything is discussed with the candidates. It’s all out there. Our partners know what they have to do to make money around here. And transparency, frankly, is one of many keys to success.”
Joe adds that, in terms of head count, all practice groups are growing, and he also notes the firm expects roughly 30 more hires by the first week of October.
