Joseph M. Hanna, Chair of Goldberg Segalla’s Diversity Task Force and Chair of its Sports and Entertainment Practice Group, received the 2014 Legal Service Award from the Minority Bar Association of Western New York (MBAWNY).

The MBAWNY honored Joe with this award in recognition of his leadership and work for the minority bar statewide. Joe is a past President of the organization and currently serves as President of the MBAWNY Foundation. In 2009, he received the MBAWNY Community Service Award.

“The Minority Bar Association of Western New York represents the best of Western New York, with an emphasis on the power of diversity and the benefits it brings not just to the legal community, but to the world at large,” Joe said at the organization’s 32nd annual Scholarship and Awards Celebration on September 18. “Serving the organization has been a tremendous experience, and I am continually impressed by what it accomplishes.”

Joe has been recognized nationally, statewide, and regionally for his innovative efforts to increase diversity in the legal and business communities. These honors include a George B. Vashon Innovator Award from the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, a Diversity Trailblazer Award from the New York State Bar Association, a Community Service Award from the Defense Research Institute, and a Diversity Excellence Award from the Buffalo Niagara Human Resource Association.
