Julie P. Apter, a partner in the firm’s Buffalo office, was recently honored with this year’s Sherwood Civility Award by the Defense Trial Lawyers Association of Western New York (DTLA).
Julie has more than 30 years of experience practicing employment and labor law as well as general litigation and liability. She focuses on representing clients in matters involving constitutional law and civil rights claims, and has previously practiced as in-house counsel for a national insurer, as an attorney for a public municipality, and as a trial lawyer in private practice representing insureds and self-insureds in civil matters in New York, Connecticut, and federal courts. An AV-rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, Julie has a sterling reputation and is known for her forthright nature in engaging with clients and opposing counsel alike.
The DTLA Sherwood Civility Award is awarded annually to attorneys demonstrating exceptional civility skills. The award is given in honor and memory of Neil Sherwood, an attorney who exhibited outstanding qualities including a commitment to his profession and volunteer work as a fireman, making him a model among his fellow defense trial lawyers.
