Goldberg Segalla partner Larry D. Mason authored Chapter 13, “Pollution Exclusion,” in the 2026 edition of Commercial and Professional Liability Insurance, a comprehensive handbook published by the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE).

The publication provides Illinois attorneys with an in-depth analysis of legal issues arising in commercial and professional liability insurance claims, serving as a practical resource for practitioners navigating complex coverage matters.

In his chapter, Larry examines pollution exclusions in commercial general liability (CGL) policies, one of the most frequently litigated defenses in insurance coverage disputes. The chapter explores how courts interpret and apply pollution exclusion provisions and addresses the impact these exclusions can have on insurance coverage claims.

Larry is a partner in Goldberg Segalla’s Global Insurance Services practice and regularly represents insurers in complex coverage and litigation matters. His contribution to the handbook reflects his extensive experience advising clients on environmental, toxic tort, and insurance coverage issues.
