Goldberg Segalla is pleased to announce that the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) recently presented Goldberg Segalla partner Michael A. Hamilton with a special recognition award at its annual meeting in Bermuda for his service as Chair of the organization’s Insurance and Reinsurance Committee. Mike, a partner in the firm’s Global Insurance Services Practice Group in Philadelphia who has been involved with the IADC since 2009, recently completed a two-year tenure as committee Chair and was presented with the award by John T. Lay, the organization’s incoming president.

Mike was also heavily involved in planning the annual meeting’s highly anticipated Bermuda Triangle Event, of which Goldberg Segalla was a sponsor and which convened speakers from North America, Bermuda, and Europe to discuss emerging insurance-industry trends with attendees. Topics ranged from enforcement of international arbitration awards and Bermuda market mergers to a discussion about the impact climate change is having on the industry.

The IADC was formed in 1920 to foster the spirit of cooperation among general counsel. Today, it is an exclusive organization of attorneys in private practice and in-house counsel, whose common purpose is to gain insight into the myriad issues the insurance industry faces. In total, 11 Goldberg Segalla attorneys are members of the invitation-only organization. While Mike’s tenure as Chair has ended, his deep involvement in the Insurance and Reinsurance Committee continues; he now sits as Vice Chair of the Professional Liability subcommittee and will be a speaker for the IADC’s October 12, 2016 webinar entitled “Emerging Bad Faith Issues under Professional Liability Policies.”
