Scott Green Speaks With Construction Dive on Rising Unfair Labor Practice Charges
Partner and vice chair of the firm’s Employment and Labor practice group, Scott R. Green, sat down with Construction Dive to discuss the recent increase in charges of unfair labor practices and what contractors should keep in mind. According to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), unfair labor practices charges are up 10% and union petitions are up 3% in the 2023 fiscal year.
Scott sees this as no surprise given the current climate for labor. He points out that the Biden administration has touted itself as the most pro-union administration ever. For example, the make-up of the NLRB is “fundamentally different and far more pro-union than anything we’ve seen in 50 years.”
He also pointed out that contractors need to stay informed on “labor-related rules tied to any federal construction projects, especially those coming from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act.”
