Experience
Austin K. Spooner counsels and defends clients in a wide range of civil litigation matters, including premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, personal injury, employment, and commercial disputes. He has appeared before New York State Supreme Courts across the New York City boroughs as well as in Nassau and Westchester Counties. Austin draws on recent experience assisting in the defense of major metropolitan transit and transportation entities, as well as handling the defense of physicians and healthcare facilities in medical malpractice matters.
Earlier in his career, Austin developed strong client service, persuasive writing, and courtroom advocacy skills as a staff attorney for a New York City–based nonprofit organization that serves New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS. In that role, he advised clients on their rights under municipal, state, and federal law, represented tenants in housing court, and evaluated and pursued discrimination claims – drafting complaints and advocating before the New York City Commission on Human Rights and New York State Division of Human Rights.
