Experience
John N. Lynn is a partner in Goldberg Segalla’s Defense Base Act and War Hazards Compensation Act practice group in which he defends employers and insurers against claims filed by those working for government contractors on foreign soil.
An experienced litigator, he has a long record of success in representing domestic and international insurers in complex coverage cases before the U.S. Department of Labor’s judicial and administrative tribunals. John is especially skilled in developing litigation strategy in matters involving complex jurisdictional and benefits disputes. Meticulous in his management and investigation of claims under the Defense Base Act, he handles claims through all stages of litigation, including formal discovery, negotiating settlements, participating in mediations, and preparing cases for formal hearings before administrative law judges.
Based in Manhattan, John is well-versed in litigating insurance cases in state and federal court, having successfully represented clients in an array of cases involving coverage, bad faith and breach of contract matters.
A graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law, John served as an intern with the honorable federal court judge L. Scott Coogler in Alabama, and as law clerk for the NFL for which he evaluated grievances and analyzed Collective Bargaining Agreement compliance.
John’s also been recognized repeatedly by Metro New York Super Lawyers, Rising Stars and tapped as a Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch for Insurance Law in 2023 – 2024.
