Experience
John R. Soler has litigated hundreds of cases on behalf of insurance carriers before state and federal courts throughout the country. As lead partner in Goldberg Segalla’s Defense Base Act and War Hazards Compensation Act practice group, John oversees a roster of highly skilled litigators representing employers and their insurers in this very nuanced area of law.
John and his Manhattan-based team focus their practice on defending government contractors and their insurers against claims filed by those working at U.S. military and NATO installations on foreign soil. Besides litigating complex cases under the Defense Base Act (DBA), John counsels clients on coverage opinions and regulatory guidance, helping them to minimize liabilities and limit exposures, and ensuring they understand their obligations set forth under the Defense Base and War Hazards Compensation acts.
A highly skilled and trial-tested litigator, John’s experience includes successfully representing clients in high-exposure domestic and international insurance claims under third-party liability insurance policies and serving as lead counsel in cases involving catastrophic loss due to fire, dust explosion and product defects.
A graduate of St. John’s University School of Law, John has been recognized repeatedly throughout his distinguished career by New York Metro Super Lawyers. He is also a frequently sought-after thought leader on matters surrounding the Defense Base Act, appearing often at industry conferences and symposiums as a guest speaker and panelist.
