H. Lockwood (Chip) Miller III has broad litigation experience across a number of substantive areas, with a deep focus on the defense of product liability and toxic tort claims in single-plaintiff cases and large, consolidated mass actions. He has litigated multiple matters involving a host of different prescription and over-the-counter medications, vaccines and surgical devices, including phenylpropanolamine cough and cold products, cholesterol-lowering medications, polio vaccines, prescription antibiotics, implantable contraceptives, factor concentrate, paramagnetic contrast agents, weight loss medications, hormone replacement therapy, gastro-intestinal motility and bowel medications, laparoscopic surgical devices, and surgical sutures and needles.
Chip has also defended a wide array of other product liability and toxic tort claims, including with respect to asbestos, cosmetics and personal care products, lead paint, chemicals and chemical compounds, household and consumer products, butane-fueled lighters, material handling equipment, airline service equipment, alarm and signaling systems, industrial products, and playground equipment. The breadth of his experience also includes general commercial litigation, premises liability, environmental, employment, and insurance coverage.
Chip was a member of the Boston College Law Review and is a graduate of the Justice William J. Brennan Inn of Court. He is an active member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI) Product Liability Committee, for which he has served since 2009 as the Publications Chair. He also currently serves as a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court District XB Ethics Committee.
