Experience
Nicholas M. Minerva combines extensive trial and litigation experience with a firsthand understanding of both claimant and defense strategies to help insurers, employers and third-party administrators resolve complex workers’ compensation matters throughout New York State.
Nick manages all aspects of workers’ compensation proceedings, including hearings, trials, depositions, summations, appeals, rebuttals, and Section 32 settlements. He regularly advises clients on issues involving compensability, medical and legal causation, exposure assessment and suspected insurance fraud, and has achieved favorable outcomes before the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board, including in fraud-related matters. Known for his practical, results-oriented approach, Nick partners with employers and carriers to develop effective litigation strategies, evaluate risk, identify creative paths to resolution, and move claims efficiently toward closure.
Before transitioning to the defense side of workers’ compensation practice, Nick spent four years representing injured workers. This experience provides him with unique insight into claimant strategies, medical treatment issues, and case valuation. He regularly worked with medical treatment guidelines, deposed medical professionals, and negotiated settlements, perspectives that continue to inform his approach to defending employers and carriers today.
