“A Review of the Science and Current Litigation Regarding Glyphosate,” DRI’s For The Defense, June 2019

Toxic Tort Practice Group Vice Chair Joseph Cagnoli Jr. and partner Andrew J. Scholz discuss  concerns surrounding the widespread use of the herbicide glyphosate in an article for DRI’s For The Defense magazine in their June 2019 edition.

In “A Review of the Science and Current Litigation Regarding Glyphosate,” Joe and Andrew write about the history of glyphosate, the current controversy of the herbicide, personal injury claims, and consumer class actions against food and beverage manufacturers.

“The predominant focus of the debate regarding the use of glyphosate has been on the health effects on humans and specifically cancer in the form of Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma,” Joe and Andrew write. Other health effects, such as an association with the prevalence of celiac disease, or gluten sensitivity, and glyphosate’s association with heart disease, as well as its effect on the environment and animals, is also being studied and coming under scrutiny.”
