According to Upstate New York Super Lawyers, Goldberg Segalla partner Joseph M. Hanna is “the hardest-working person in the room.” That comes as no surprise to those of us who know him.

Upstate New York Super Lawyers profiled Joe in its September 2017 issue’s “Rising Stars” section. The profile surveys some of Joe’s accomplishments — chairing the firm’s Sports and Entertainment and Retail and Hospitality Practice Groups; becoming one of the foremost legal authorities on concussion litigation in major league sports; overseeing the firm’s Diversity Task Force; and growing Bunkers in Baghdad into a massive multinational charity — and also talks about the roots of his legal ambitions.

Joe has been an Upstate New York Super Lawyers rising star every year since 2013. In 2014, Joe was one of just over 160 lawyers under 40 in the entire country to receive Law360‘s Rising Star honor, and one of only five in the Media and Entertainment category, that year. This year, the American Bar Association (ABA) placed Joe on its prestigious “On the Rise — Top 40 Young Lawyers” list, honoring him alongside only 39 others from a competitive crop of over 2,800 nominees nationwide.

“I’ll never be accused of being the smartest person in the room,” Joe told Super Lawyers, “But I certainly am the hardest-working person in the room. There are only so many hours in a day.”
