Goldberg Segalla Again Expands Reach, Opens Offices in Florida, Maryland, and New Jersey

February 2, 2016

Goldberg Segalla announced today that it has expanded its domestic footprint with the opening of new offices in key geographic locations along the East Coast. With an on-the-ground presence in Orlando, Florida and in Baltimore, Maryland, as well as a second location in New Jersey (Newark), the law firm brings its international client base even greater reach and strength. In all, Goldberg Segalla — recognized as one of the fastest-growing law firms in the United States — has 17 offices spanning nine U.S. states and the United Kingdom.

Goldberg Segalla has tapped Brian D. Equi as lead partner in its Orlando office. The firm’s expansion into Maryland is headed by Thomas P. Bernier and Susan E. Smith.

Each of the lead partners and their respective teams bring capabilities to the firm that both complement and expand upon its full range of practices, including insurance and reinsurance, product liability, construction, commercial litigation, toxic torts, environmental litigation, professional liability, and employment and labor, among others.

“The further growth in both new and established markets is a result of client demand and proof that we not only meet, but continually exceed the high expectations our client community has for us,” said Goldberg Segalla Managing Partner Richard J. Cohen. “Each of these dynamic lawyers embodies our core belief and founding principle that what a team accomplishes together will always be far greater than the sum of our individual gains.”

“Our objective is and always has been to create a firm based on the synergies that result when a group of like-minded individuals works toward a shared goal,” Mr. Cohen continued.

“Joining Goldberg Segalla made perfect sense for many reasons, but what we’re perhaps most excited about is the firm’s strong emphasis on teamwork and inclusion and the positive culture it has created,” Mr. Equi said. “We’re looking forward to advancing that mission.”

In Baltimore, Mr. Bernier, Ms. Smith, and the rest of their team of litigators offer an extraordinary breadth of experience defending clients against claims of injury due to Legionnaires’ disease and other toxic materials and substances, and they strengthen the firm’s capacity in product liability and environmental litigation, among others. A number of the attorneys are also admitted in the District of Columbia.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of this exceptional team and to bring the entire firm’s resources to bear for our clients,” said Mr. Bernier. “We can’t wait to see what we’ll be able to accomplish together.”

Additionally, Goldberg Segalla’s footprint in New Jersey has doubled with the opening of its Newark location, which was established to offer clients in the Tri-State area even greater access to the firm’s full suite of services. All of the firm’s practices have expanded into the office.
