Goldberg Segalla Attorneys Recognized as Super Lawyers in Illinois

Four attorneys in the Chicago office of Goldberg Segalla are listed in the 2015 Illinois edition of Super Lawyers. The publication represents a ranking of outstanding lawyers recognized by their peers for their exceptional professional achievement. Only five percent of the total lawyers in each state receive this honor. Firm-wide, more than 100 of Goldberg Segalla’s lawyers across its five-state U.S. footprint and in London have been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers.

James W. Ozog is recognized as a 2015 Super Lawyer in the area Product Liability – Products: Defense. He has more than three decades of experience in product liability defense and commercial litigation as well as significant experience defending toxic tort cases, including those involving exposure to asbestos, silicosis, welding fumes, and benzene. An AV-rated attorney, Jim serves as national product liability defense counsel for a number of national and international manufacturers in fire, explosion, and catastrophic burn cases, and he defends several food and beverage manufacturers. He has achieved national recognition for his litigation experience, which includes handling cases in 28 states and trying product liability cases to verdict in nine states. Jim is a frequent author on product liability defense for leading industry publications like DRI’s The Voice and the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel’s IDC Quarterly.

Ryan M. Frierott is recognized as a 2015 Rising Star in the category of Product Liability – Products: Defense. Ryan focuses his litigation practice in the fields of products liability, toxic torts, complex insurance coverage, and professional liability. He currently serves as national discovery counsel in toxic tort cases. In this capacity, he is responsible for identifying product issues, uniform discovery compliance, assisting local defense counsel in product-related issues to prepare for discovery, and presenting corporate witnesses for deposition. Ryan has written prominent articles for the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel and DRI.

Jonathan L. Schwartz is recognized as a 2015 Rising Star in the category Insurance Coverage and has been previously honored by the publication. Jonathan’s practice has a nationwide focus, as he has represented myriad property and casualty insurers in matters from coast to coast. He concentrates on insurance coverage litigation and counseling, including primary and excess commercial general liability, professional liability/errors and omissions, directors and officers liability, business auto, employer’s liability, and employment practices liability insurance policies. An AV-rated attorney, Jonathan holds a number of significant positions with DRI, including serving as Chair of the 2014 Insurance Coverage Practice Symposium and Vice-Chair of the 2014 Insurance Coverage and Claims Institute. A prolific speaker and writer on recent developments affecting the insurance industry, he has authored articles for publications such as New Appleman on Insurance and DRI’s The Voice and For the Defense, and provided commentary for Mealey’s Litigation Report: Insurance Bad Faith.

Staci A. Williamson is recognized as a 2015 Rising Star in the category Product Liability – Products: Defense. Staci focuses her practice on defending product liability claims, including those involving fire and explosion, product labeling and warnings, and other issues arising under the Consumer Product Safety Act. She has worked a number of complex cases with several resulting in summary judgment victories. Staci is a frequent contributor of articles on product liability defense to publications of the DRI and the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel.
