Goldberg Segalla Ranked by Chambers USA in Commercial Litigation, Construction, and Employment and Labor

Three Goldberg Segalla practice groups, as well as five individual partners, earned rankings by Chambers and Partners in the 2024 Chambers USA Guide.

Chambers USA, an independent research company that provides comprehensive rankings and insight to the world’s leading lawyers, utilizes more than 200 research analysts to conduct rigorous interviews with clients to evaluate law firms on a variety of factors such as legal ability, client service, commercial vision, business understanding, diligence, value, and depth of team.

Goldberg Segalla’s practice groups that earned Chambers USA rankings include Commercial Litigation, Construction, and Employment and Labor.

Attorneys are also individually ranked based on client feedback regarding their legal knowledge, experience, ability, effectiveness, and client service.

Goldberg Segalla partners who earned Chambers USA rankings include Christopher J. Belter, David L. Brown, Michael A. Hamilton, David S. Osterman, and Christopher P. Maugans.

Commercial Litigation

Goldberg Segalla’s Commercial Litigation practice group again earned a Band 3 ranking in the Upstate New York Litigation: General Commercial category.

Chambers USA praised the practice for its breadth of legal advice which can vary from everyday guidance to litigation derived from multi-jurisdictional transactions, shareholder litigation, class actions, and intellectual property disputes. The guide also noted the firm’s experience representing various industries such as financial services, retail, construction, energy, and sports and entertainment.

Goldberg Segalla partner Christopher J. Belter, who co-chairs the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice group, also earned a Band 3 ranking as an individual attorney in the Upstate New York Litigation: General Commercial category.

Chambers USA highlighted Belter for his expertise in contentious construction cases, as well as his prowess in securities litigation and energy disputes.

Construction

Goldberg Segalla’s Construction practice group earned a Band 4 ranking in the New York Construction category. The Chambers USA review notes the following about the practice group: “Goldberg Segalla is known to represent some of the largest general contractors in the country in construction litigation, with particular expertise in the energy industry. It is also adept at drafting and negotiating all forms of construction contracts, as well as insurance defense work.”

Belter, who also co-chairs the firm’s Construction practice group, again earned a Band 3 ranking for Construction attorneys in New York.

Chambers USA called specific attention to Belter’s versatility, noting his practice stretches across various construction litigation, ADR, and contract review matters. The guide also recognized his ability to represent specialty contractors taking on large-scale energy infrastructure projects.

Employment and Labor

Goldberg Segalla’s Employment and Labor practice group again earned a Band 2 ranking in the Upstate New York Labor and Employment category.

Chambers USA noted the firm maintains a respected practice, especially in representing municipalities across Upstate New York, taking care of everyday employment counseling, litigation, and labor services. Chambers USA also emphasized the practice’s numerous strengths, including dismissal challenges, a diverse range of discrimination claims, labor relations, employment contracts, collective bargaining, and pension fund negotiations.

Buffalo-based partner Christopher P. Maugans again earned an Up and Coming ranking for his individual work in the Upstate New York Labor and Employment category. Chambers USA focused on his growing reputation for skillfully handling of various employment litigation and labor matters.

Insurance

Greensboro-based partner David L. Brown, co-chair of the firm’s Global Insurance Services practice group, earned a Band 1 ranking in the North Carolina Insurance category. The Chambers USA review notes the following about David: “David Brown is a go-to lawyer for insurers and insurance brokers and offers expert handling of environment and construction-related claims, among others.” Chambers USA cited a specific review from a client who said “he is an excellent coverage lawyer.”

Philadelphia-based partner Michael A. Hamilton again earned a Band 3 ranking for Chambers USA’s Pennsylvania Insurance directory. The guide noted his vast experience in insurance coverage claims, liability issues, and commercial litigation.

Product Liability

Princeton-based partner David S. Osterman earned a Band 3 ranking for Product Liability attorneys in New Jersey.

David was highlighted by Chambers USA for being “a highly regarded lawyer in the product liability space and is known for his work in civil action matters and class action litigation.”
