Goldberg Segalla added Hazel Estwick-Hurley to the firm’s Workers’ Compensation practice group in Newark.

With significant experience in both law and healthcare, Hazel brings a unique and powerful perspective to defending employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators in complex workers’ compensation cases. Her dual background as Corporate Counsel and Registered Nurse enables her to craft highly informed and strategic legal defenses, bridging the gap between medical evidence and legal argumentation.

As Corporate Counsel for a U.S. insurance provider specializing in commercial and personal auto, workers’ compensation, and homeowners’ coverage, Hazel led the evaluation of workers’ compensation claims, identified potential fraud, negotiated pre-trial settlements, and successfully litigated more than 200 workers’ compensation cases. She also trained and served as a Registered Nurse, where Hazel assessed patients’ physical and mental health, developed individualized care plans, and provided medical and post-surgical care in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals.

Hazel earned her B.S. from Syracuse University and her J.D. from the Seton Hall University School of Law.
