John M. McConnell Elevated to Vice Chair of Business and Commercial Practice Group
Goldberg Segalla announces the promotion of partner John M. McConnell to vice chair of the firm’s national Business and Commercial practice group.
John will help manage a team of more than 50 attorneys as they handle pre-suit negotiations and pre-answer motions to resolve disputes before they reach full-fledged litigation, and utilize business-minded strategies tied to clients’ desired outcomes when litigation becomes necessary.
“John’s vast experience and knowledge will ensure that our clients are always positioned to achieve their goals. They know John speaks their language and knows their industry, and that inspires their trust and confidence in our firm,” said Kenneth M. Alweis , co-chair of the firm’s Business and Commercial practice group. “John’s skill and know-how not only makes him the perfect choice to help lead our practice group team, but to further enhance Goldberg Segalla’s national presence in the Business and Commercial arena. His promotion is well deserved.”
John is a trusted counselor to Fortune 500 companies and other publicly traded corporations, and is renowned for his record of success in high-stakes litigation and his acumen in motion practice and trial advocacy. His clients include major banking and financial services companies, government entities, hospitality companies, large national real-estate development and management companies, construction companies, product manufacturers, and publicly traded retailers. Clients turn to John for his aggressive and frequently novel use of motion practice to dismiss claims and favorably resolve disputes without protracted litigation—particularly valuable to large national companies with complex risk-management demands and sensitivity to litigation spending. He joined Goldberg Segalla in 2014 as an associate in our Princeton office, and was promoted to partner in 2017.
“John excels at building strong relationships with our clients, and in doing so, they know Goldberg Segalla always has their back,” said Marc W. Brown, who also serves as co-chair of the Business and Commercial practice group. “In providing skillful, experienced and efficient counsel, John works collaboratively with clients, partnering with them every step of the way to help them achieve their desired outcomes. They know in working with John that not only will they be represented well, but that their needs will be understood and that their voices will be heard. It’s for good reason that John’s talent and ability is widely respected, and we’re excited for him to take on this leadership role.”
